In the ever-changing world around us, church leaders must be able to analyze and adapt to an increasingly multicultural, secular, and global context. To meet the needs of our day, Asbury Church Planting Initiative is pleased to offer affordable, non-residential training that enables participants to learn while remaining in the context of their current ministry. These training weekends are called Institutes and they expose leaders to dynamic training in the areas of multiplying disciples, leaders, ministries, and new contextualized churches.
Consisting of five modules that are offered in one or two-day intensive formats, the Church Planting Institutes can be studied through one of our regional learning sites and typically can be completed either in one or two years depending on the availability of courses being offered. After completing all requirements, each participant receives a non-academic certificate in Church Planting from Asbury Theological Seminary in partnership with the Asbury Institutes.
In partnership with Lexington United Methodist Church, we are excited to offer a training Institute here on our very own campus! Beginning in 2020, we hope to explore missional leadership, fresh expressions of church planting, and discipleship development over the course of the following months.
We are excited to partner with Christ Church, Memphis to host a church planting training event on Asbury’s own Memphis Extension Site! This event will address the unique dynamics that accompany church planting in multiethnic contexts. The training will be spread across 4 weekend events to make it as accessible as possible to a range of schedules.
