Institute Overview

Module #1 – Exploring the Call of Multiethnic Leadership

This module is designed to help leaders and their teams explore the nuances of missional leadership in multiethnic contexts. Through a thorough survey of the biblical narrative, participants will situate their own sense of call in terms of joining in God’s mission to the world. These missiological foundations will help leaders to articulate the spiritually formative practices necessary for faithful character development, to relate the principles of mission to their own ministry experience, and to enrich the development of a holistic philosophy of leadership within diverse contexts.

Module #2 – Introduction to Multiethnic Church Planting and Remissioning

This module introduces the theory and practice of planting new contextual churches. Various models and options for church planting will be discussed in conjunction with the students’ resources and gifts as revealed by their assessment results. A plan will be developed to address common obstacles in order to successfully plant new contextual churches.

Module #3 – Understanding Multiethnic Community Contexts

This module teaches students the importance of evaluating the context in which they minister by providing practical tools for understanding people and their values, interests, and practices in their specific area. Students will use their findings to develop specific ways in which they and their community can purposefully live out the gospel in their context.

Module #4 – Developing Models and Strategies for Multiplying Disciples

This module introduces participants to biblical and practical foundations and tools for developing and multiplying disciples by mobilizing and empowering the laity. This module is designed to introduce participants to a biblically-grounded, practical equipping discipleship based on Ephesians 4. Two major paradigm shifts are discussed: 1) from members to disciples; and 2) from solo to team leadership. Practical tools are then discussed to make these shifts.

Module #5 – Prepare and Enrich Marriage Training

Prepare and Enrich is designed to equip marriage champions, couples, and families with evidence-based skills and insights to foster healthy relationships. More than 4,000,000 couples have prepared for marriage or enriched their relationship by taking the Prepare and Enrich assessment and working with a Certified Facilitator.

Module #6 – Immunity to Change

This brief training focuses on the power of a leader’s personal identity combined with the collective identity of the organization to either ossify the status quo or catalyze massive change in the organization. In helping leaders recognize the causes of resistance to change, this content will help them subvert these influences and utilize them to propel them towards their vision.

Module #7 – Engaging the World through Entrepreneurial Strategies

Discover how entrepreneurs are engaging business and mission for marketplace transformation. This seminar discusses both theory and practice by looking at various case studies of entrepreneurial church planters from contemporary culture as well as historical and biblical examples. If you are asking questions about alternative funding approaches for ministry that engage unchurched or de-churched people, then this seminar is for you.
